Madden 12: Cover Voting Down To Final Eight
The Madden 12 cover voting has reached its third week, which means only eight players remain and we’re close to declaring a winner in the race to grace the front of the upcoming release.
Round 2 produced some incredibly close matchups, and it would be no surprise to see more of the same this time around, at least in some cases. Last week, Jamaal Charles edged Maurice Jones-Drew 51-49, while Peyton Hillis surprised Matt Ryan by the same margin of victory.
Some of the other second round matchups saw Michael Vick crush Andre Johnson 62-38, while Patrick Willis kept the dream alive for fans of defensive players in a 60-40 win over Hines Ward. Adrian Peterson also won a close matchup over Philip Rivers, while Drew Brees beat Mark Sanchez, Aaron Rodgers destroyed Sam Bradford and Danny Woodhead edged Hakeem Nicks.
So, Round 3 features the following:
Rodgers vs. Woodhead – this one likely won’t be close, as Rodgers can expect another easy victory.
Charles vs. Hillis – This one is tough, with Charles seemingly holding an advantage, but Hillis as a trendy upset pick. Both have received plenty of support and one of the running backs will represent in the final four.
Peterson vs. Brees – This could also go either way, as both players are among the most popular in the league. The voting here might come down to preference over position, between fans of the running back and those who want a quarterback on the cover.
Vick vs. Willis – Nobody has put up much of a fight against Vick so far, but it feels like Willis could be a darkhorse here. Many, including yours truly, would be happy to see a beastly middle linebacker hit the cover of Madden 12, so it’s possible. Still, Willis is obviously a longshot.
My picks for the final four are Vick, Peterson, Hillis and Rodgers – what are yours?
