NHL 12 Will Feature Gretzky, Bourque, Chelios And More Legends

Taking a page out of the NBA 2K series, EA Sports is looking to generate similar buzz with the introduction of legends to NHL 12.
The company announced that among others, Wayne Gretzky, Ray Bourque and Chris Chelios will be featured in NHL 12, giving gamers the chance to play with legends in various modes.
This is similar to what 2K Sports did with NBA 2K11, as they stuck Michael Jordan on the cover and allowed gamers to recreate his greatest moments and to play against other legendary squads. This year, NBA 2K12 will feature even more of the NBA’s greatest players, including Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
NHL 12 will supposedly feature nine legends in total (just the three have been revealed so far), available to use across different modes. Those likely include Ultimate Team, and here’s guessing EA implements a special legends mode to pit these old stars against each other.
Will the idea pay off for EA and the NHL series? It remains to be seen, but it’s hard to imagine people getting as excited over hockey legends as they do with the basketball variety.
